During the time between school years at Ryerson, I was program director at the local cable station in Owen Sound. One of the perks was access to all the portable video equipment.

The equipment was hauled out to Graham’s farm where “Jensen at the Farm” was created. This featured Larry Jensen’s original songs and some traditional covers.

John Graham, Pat Packer, Jan Holland, Mike Malone and myself were the backup musicians for some of the songs.

This production was played 100’s of times on the local station (I was program director!) This was the springboard for Jensen & Walker. We began playing professionally in September of 1975 at the Pizza Patio on Bloor St. in Toronto.

To get the gig at the Pizza Patio we were standing on the corner across from Varsity Stadium on Bloor, guitar cases open hoping for donations. Along came the host of open mic night at the Pizza Patio. He heard us over the roar of the city and offered us the gig.

It didn’t pay squat but we got free pizzas and beer. We played all week, with some nights full of students, some nights not so much.

We developed a few connections in southern Ontario. Playing Toronto, Barrie, and Owen Sound.

In the summer of 1976 we were the first act to play Summerfolk a brand new folk festival in Owen Sound.

We released a EP called “Falling off your rainbow” produced by Richard Knechtal and featured Martin Brown on bass.

The EP was financed by good friend and roommate Bruce Wark, who had taken a shine to our music and my dog Juna. Over long walks and swigs of brandy we would be herded to the park and back.

John Porter was the other roommate. John is a great supporter of super 8mm films, please visit his site. He made a live audio recording at the Pizza Patio in January of 1979. These songs are examples from this recording.
