I quit Harbinger following the accident out east and returned to Owen Sound via a stint working on a natural gas pipeline in northern Ontario.

I wasn’t quite ready to hang up the guitar and I got involved with the Dickinson brothers who had the band Krust.

Krust featured the vocals of both Steve and Larry who had and still have great pipes. Covers of Bob Seger by Steve, Bad Company by Larry featured thick rich vocals by the brothers and were handled with ease.

The band played in this format with drummer Mike Malone for a while until Steve departed. This left the vocal duties primarily for Larry. Mike and I eventually filled out the night with our contributions.

I had been experimenting with amps and had come up with a great combo of Marshall and Roland amps. The Marshall pre-amped the Roland, which had a great chorus and the combination was awesome.

I’d been using my Firebird and Les Paul in tandem for a number of years and began focusing on the Les Paul with Krust. We added ZZ Top, the Police, the Clash and more rock classics to the songlist.

Larry used the same Ampeg bass amp for about 30 years before it gave up the ghost. He uses an Ibanez bass, has a fretless version and a Rickenbacker somewhere.

Mike continues to use a set of Fibes drums which must be close to the loudest drums on the planet. We always play tiny stages and the close proximity of ears to cymbals has quickened my high end frequency loss in my aging years.

Being a good cover band lead to lots of field parties, anniversaries, weddings, bars and events. We had our busiest period in the 80’s.

Bob Robins joined the band briefly on guitar and the quartet experimented with recordings. The old Ministry of Transportation building in Owen Sound was the recording studio. The mp3's "Magnets", "No Breaks" and "I remember" and are from this era.

Krust also recorded at Byrdland studios in the early 90's. Songs to follow.

Krust is still together, not playing very much but ready for action!
