Slipstream

Various local jam sessions turned into a common interest for Steve Kennedy, Randy Martin, Kim Meyer
(Berly) and myself. We were all seasoned musicians and didn’t want to take over the music world anymore. We just really enjoyed each others music and company.

Steve’s musical background is Canadian musical history in person. Soul Searchers, Grant Smith and the Power Motherlode, Dr. Music and current member of Lighthouse. His song “when I die” was big fun to learn and play. It was a real departure for me musically and great to hear Steve sing it.

Steve is also plays tenor, alto sax, harmonica, flute and keyboards. His free form approach on the sax is exactly the way I work. Never performs a solo the same way, always improvising.

Kim is the drummer for The Stampeders. Their recording accomplishments, songwriting abilities, and musicianship are legendary. Again to hear a Canadian icon singing in the same room…

Randy and I just hit it of. We seemed to have similar interests in music and we appreciated the history sitting in the same room with us.

Randy has a great sense of what’s needed and what’s not needed when he plays. His playing is always in touch with everyone else in the band. Randy currently runs Track6 a recording studio in the beautiful Dornoch area.

Slipstream fragmented as lives changed. I returned to University for my teaching diploma, Kim was playing with the Stampeders more and more, and Steve’s sheep were bah bah bah ing.
